Topical treatments, such as Advantage, Frontline Plus, and Advantix, are applied to the dog once a month between the shoulder blades. These treatments are generally very effective at controlling fleas and ticks on your dogs. Sprays, flea dips, and other treatments may be needed to eliminate flea infestations in the house or yard or to treat heavy flea infestations on the dog. Once the flea infestation is under control, the topical applications may be preferred for ongoing flea control.
